Photos of Nature

A downy woodpecker finding and eating insects in small tree.  I heard some strange tapping and thought a neighbor was hitting something over and over with a small hammer.  Finally, I moved under bush, continued hearing the sound and spotted the little bird.   The bird was so intent in getting it's food that it didn't mind me snapping several photos.

An injured Bald Eagle being rehabilitated.  Unfortunately the bird's wing is too damaged for release back into the wild.   So, the bird will be cared for and used to educate children and adults about bald eagles.

A squirrel gathering food for the winter.

Very cool fungus.   Fungus plays a very important role in keeping a habitat and nature healthy.  Can you think what it's purpose is?

A wild bald eagle flying high overhead.    The birds are huge and they fly so high they become small dots and have to be viewed with a good set of binoculars.   Eagles were endangered and have made great progess coming back.   It is becoming more common in the correct habitat to see bald eagles.
